Christmas Party Venue Cambridge

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of the staff that helped us have such a great evening for our Christmas party. The service was faultless and the food was so yummy!! Quite a few people arrived late for the meal and the supervisor handled it so professionally. If is a patient decides to be poorly we can never finish on time…so their patience was greatly appreciated. The DJ couldn’t believe how great the venue and had a great time in the Dome as well!!!

Whether you are planning a large or small festive gathering this Christmas, Murray Edwards College has the flexibility to cater for both, with the added benefits of on-site parking and overnight accommodation for guests.

Decorations

The College is decorated during the festive season in a rich, traditional colour palette, with real Christmas trees throughout, including a real showstopper in The Dome.

Tables are always set with crisp, white tablecloths, sparkling cutlery and elegant Christmas centrepieces. Presentation is of the highly standard and our team works hard to deliver exceptional service to each event we host at Murray Edwards.

Christmas Package

Our Christmas package starts with a Champagne, mulled wine or prosecco drinks reception, followed by a 3 course meal and Christmas crackers and mince pies to get your guests in the spirit.

The Christmas package delivers everything you need for a party, but it offers scope to build on too. Whatever your requirements, our team can help source DJS, photobooths, casinos, and karaoke to enhance your event to that next level.

Menu options include a Blood Orange sorbet course as well as plenty of tasty vegan and vegetarian options.

We understand it is a big responsibility to organise a Christmas party, lunch or dinner. Our team are here to help guide you through the process and plan a stand-out event that your guests will be talking about into the new year.

Location in Cambridge

Our location at the top of Castle Hill in Cambridge provides ample parking and coaches can drop off/pick up on Huntingdon Road.

We understand it is a big responsibility to organise a Christmas party, lunch or dinner. Often the highlight of the social calendar, there’s a lot riding on this event for many organisers. Often the organiser has been put in charge of the event or it’s their turn and without any experience organising a large event, this can be daunting. Our team are here to help guide you through the process and plan a stand-out event that your guests will be talking about into the new year.

To help reassure you further, please read our Christmas case studies to see how the event runs from the organisers’ perspective and see how much fun a Christmas party at Murray Edwards can be.

The Dome Dining Hall

Christmas party at Murray Edwards College Cambridge

The Dome Dining Hall can accommodate 140 guests cabaret style on round tables or 210 banquet style. It is a self-contained space where you can host your whole event – dining, dancing and bar – in one room and offers a definite ‘wow’ factor thanks to the spectacular domed ceiling.

If you are not having a dance floor or bar, the Dome can accommodate up to 270 people banquet style, making it one of the largest dining rooms in Cambridge.

The Dome is decorated with a soaring, beautifully decorated Christmas tree and the pillars are wrapped in Christmas garlands. We can project Christmas images or even a Christmas film into the Domed ceiling. You are most welcome to add to the decorations yourself. The room offers great scope for further decoration.

Drinks receptions may be taken in Fountain Court Walkway overlooking our beautiful illuminated fountains.

The Fellows’ Suite

Christmas Party Cambridge College

Also known as Fellows’ Drawing and Dining Rooms (FDR).

For smaller parties, the Fellows’ Dining Room with adjacent Drawing Room provides a more intimate, cosy space.

The recently refurbished Drawing Room centres around artwork from the New Hall Art Collection and a large rug which brings colour and vibrancy to the space.

The adjoining Dining Room features the College’s signature exposed, light brickwork. The room is warmed through the use of dark woods and chairs upholstered in green leather, bringing an elegant, formal atmosphere. The walls feature interesting framed photography which offers a unique talking point. The dining room can seat up to 70 guests banquet style and up to 40 cabaret style on rectangular tables.

Beautiful hall to have reception in and the party venue was spectacular! By far the best venue yet!

I really liked the atmosphere and the look of the venue. It felt ideal for the type of event. The facilities were good and it was overall very comfortable. It was just the right size for the number of people in attendance. I liked that it was all in one room and the tables didn’t have to be moved to make way for the dancing.
