Background
Intertek Melbourn, Cambridgeshire provides pharmaceutical analysis and formulation contract services for the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and drug delivery industries, with specialist expertise in inhalation development and other dosage forms.
Each year it holds a Christmas Party for staff, with the number of attendees increasing annually as the company has grown. In 2019 it held the event at Murray Edwards College for the first time.
Event
Tracey Swift who organised the event said: “Capacity is key for us as we needed somewhere to accommodate 171 people this time and have everyone seated in the same room. We have outgrown most central venues so it was great to find that The Dome at Murray Edwards could meet our brief. Location is also important as the younger members of staff like to go into town afterwards.
“Everybody loved the different spaces, with the welcome drinks by the floodlit fountains and then moving up to The Dome which was an exciting revelation and hidden until that moment.
“Although our event didn’t pose any significant challenges, all the staff were very organised and aware of everything I had requested which from an organiser’s point of view put my mind at ease.
“Louise Segar helped with the organisation pre-event and then on the night, Agnieszka who was on hand to help and kept a close eye on everything, checking I was happy. Louise was so professional with the set-up. She answered all my questions promptly and help me to organise the bar tab and directions at the last minute.

“In summary, the location and professionalism of the staff were phenomenal and everyone has been raving about the party since. Having the whole event in one room was a massive improvement from previous years where we’ve been moved from room to room for dinner and the disco.
“I’d like to thank all the staff who made the night run so smoothly. We are currently looking into the recruitment plan for next year to see if we will be able to book Murray Edwards again – the only reason we may not is if we are too large a group for the room. Personally I’m really hoping we put a cap in place so that we can come back to you as it was brilliant. I can’t recommend it enough.”
